Two new foals are winning hearts at Penny Farm

Two adorable new foals are delighting visitors at Penny Farm as the team prepare to celebrate the centre’s 25^th anniversary with a summer fair.

Visitors are expected from across Lancashire on Sunday 5^th July, with the new arrivals – Pink Lady and Goose – set to be a major attraction. The foals’ mothers were among a group of semi-feral ponies rescued last year and have been transformed through expert, compassionate care.

The celebration starts at 11am on Sunday 5^th July and promises a free, family-friendly day out for visitors from across the region. Entertainment includes the Park School band, Waterloo Women’s Choir and Fylde Little Voices, alongside local stalls, children’s games, donkey rides and archery.

Centre manager Adam Cummins says:

“We’re always blown away by how many local people come along and support our summer fair, so with this being our 25^th anniversary we’re hoping for an even better turnout.

“As well as lots of family-friendly activities, visitors will get to meet our horses and ponies, including Pink Lady, Goose and their mums Rizzo and Marty – and know that every penny raised on the day will support their rehabilitation.

“It’s amazing to see how far these ponies have come, from being nervous and unsure to welcoming new foals and becoming firm favourites with our visitors.”

Rizzo and Marty arrived at Penny Farm among a group of 11 ponies who were rescued from Gelligaer Common in Wales during a multi-agency operation. The group, affectionately known as the ‘class of 25,’ were named after characters from the hit musical Grease. Many were very wary of humans on arrival but have since been successfully rehabilitated by our expert staff.

Several of the group have already found loving new homes, while others are taking all the time they need to complete their rehabilitation. Sonny is ready for rehoming but has yet to meet his perfect match – if you’re looking for a new pony, could he be “the one that you want”?
