Equestrian and lifestyle influencer Esme Higgs – better known to her fans as This Esme – was guest of honour at our official launch Stable Squad, our brand new club for animal-loving children. Taking place on Thursday 15 August at our Glenda Spooner Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre, Esme, who is also a Patron of our charity, delighted hoards of young fans alongside her World Horse Welfare rescue pony Duke. The pair were joined by Lemon LeMieux, who is also a World Horse Welfare pony, rehomed by the Le Mieux family, and the little Shetland is quickly building up her own fan base on social media.
“It was such a special day for Duke and me to return to Glenda Spooner Farm together to celebrate World Horse Welfare’s fantastic new club for young people. I loved meeting some new friends as well as lots of familiar faces, and together we’re all now part of the Stable Squad family! Duke was such a superstar meeting his fans – he definitely worked his stardom by making sure he got plenty of butt scratches!“

Photo opportunities with their idol were in high demand by those attending the event, and one young fan, Purple Jones, was given an exclusive opportunity to interview Esme, to her absolute delight. With live demonstrations, LeMieux hobby horse jumping, face-painting and ice cream, there was plenty going on to keep everyone entertained. Stable Squad Ambassador and equestrian influencer Claudia Groves was also on hand to share her enthusiasm for the charity’s new club.
“We loved welcoming children from all over the country to Glenda Spooner Farm to celebrate the launch of Stable Squad. We now have a growing community of over 500 children who are part of the Stable Squad family! We’d like to thank everyone who joined us in making it such a special day, it’s been wonderful to meet this new generation of horse welfare advocates.”
Glenda Spooner Farm Manager, Claire Dickie.
