Meet King Harrold

King Harrold's time in our care has been supported by Retraining of Racehorses (RoR), the official charity for the welfare of horses who have retired from racing. Harrold is not a typical TB in either looks or personality. He is so sensible and calm with a laid back outlook in life. He is such a special boy his groom has said she would take him home herself if she could. Harrold does not have a bad bone in his body and he has never shown any aggression towards people or other horses. He gets on well with everyone although he does like to have a best friend that he can hang out with. Harrold usually finds himself in the leadership role but this may just be his size as he seems uninterested in any power struggles. On arrival at Hall Farm Harrold had very little condition behind with the result he found it difficult to lift his hind legs for the farrier. With months of physio he is now much better but any rehomer would need to be aware of this and willing to continue with regular simple physio exercises to maintain his strength. Although Harrold will stable for short periods he does seem to get uncomfortable with this. He would be better suited to a home where he he can live out with access to shelter and be able to move around more. Any extra little effort required will pay dividends to have this genuinely kind gentleman with such a beautiful temperament in your life.

Important stuff

King Harrold can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that King Harrold is not suitable to be worked.

History

Harrold was signed over to us when his owner was unable to provide the care he needed.
