Leaving a gift in your Will to World Horse Welfare will help us continue our work tackling every aspect of horse welfare. Every gift, no matter the size, will make a difference to the lives of vulnerable horses in the UK and overseas.

A step-by-step guide to leaving a gift in your Will

1. Find a solicitor

We recommend that you seek advice from a solicitor or legal professional when writing your Will.

2. Decide what type of gift you would like to leave:

  • A percentage of your estate – also known as a residuary gift
A share of the total value of your remaining assets, after you’ve provided for your loved ones and all costs have been paid. This is the most valuable type of gift for World Horse Welfare as the value won’t change over time with inflation.
  • A fixed amount – also known as a pecuniary gift
A specific sum of money left as a gift in your Will to World Horse Welfare.
  • Specific gifts
A specific item – this could be a piece of jewellery, a property, shares, or land. In most cases, the charity will sell the item and use the proceeds to continue our mission of helping horses everywhere.
