World renowned equine transportation expert, scientist and vet Dr Barbara Padalino discussed some of the latest scientific findings that all owners should consider when transporting their horse.
Whatever your and your horse’s experience, transportation always comes with a certain amount of risk but there are ways to reduce it. From illustrating these risks to explaining how we can make improvements, Barbara shared not only the science behind good practice but also her wealth of experience from the international horse sport world and as a horse owner.
She was joined by World Horse Welfare’s Research and Education Officer Alana Chapman, who highlighted areas of transportation best practice. Alana explained some of the work World Horse Welfare has been involved in to ensure welfare is prioritised during transport as well as sharing tips on how our expert teams at our Rescue and Rehoming Centres prepare our horses and ponies for a journey.
